Vocational Education Training



Vocational education is also termed as Career and Technical Education (CTE). Vocational education generally comprises of the manual and practical activities which are confined to a specific field. Here, the learner is subjected to expertise in a particular group of technologies. Until the end of the twentieth century, vocational education was focused on specific trades like mechanic or welder which ended up as a level of stigma for the learner. However, there's a boom in labor market which asks for higher level of skilled persons in different industries. As a result, vocational education has fully grown in industries like retail, tourism, cosmetics and information technology. A learner from the vocational education is considered as the professional in its own context.
Training is a term used for acquisition of skills, knowledge and competencies that relates to the specific useful skills. Training is usually conducted to enrich the vocational education and enhance the learner in their professional development. Training also provides the improvement in the theoretical aspect of an individual. Trainings are classified as on-the-job or off-the-job. On-the-job trainers are exposed to workings of actual tools, equipment or documents.

These kinds of trainings are generally useful for vocational work which also counts for their productivity. Whereas, in the off-the-job category, the learner is taken away from the normal work situation and does not enjoy the privilege of being a productive worker. However, this kind of training is more useful for enriching the concepts and ideas of the required tools and equipments.

Vocational education and training thus provides a professional entity to the growing industries like traditional crafts, cosmetics and cottage industries. More and more industries are funding the training institutions so that they will have a well trained person in the specified technique. Many countries like New Zealand, Australia and the United States are funding their small vocational institutions for running the courses. Countries like German passed a law in 1969 which regulates the vocational training system which has tremendously improved their employment rate for the youngsters below 22 years.

Vocational education and training thus plays an important role and shall sustain as the integral part of the education system. This not only helps the individual to master the skills but helps in diminishing the unemployment.
